http://data.illinimedia.com/salaries/index University of Illinois - a state university in a state where the governor just increased our state income taxes by 66%. All these people are still PUBLIC employees. Starting with the coach and ending with the janitor. In 2010, people at Univ. of IL had anywhere between 5 and 20 FURLOUGH days. Unpaid days to stay home. Why should admin level and research scientists stay home 15 days (that is what most of my former colleagues did) so the football coach could get a million dollars. And on top of that the governor just signed into law to increase our state income taxes. How's that fair ? Don't you think that fiscal responsibility should be spread across the board ? Public employees are public employees. There should be a limit to their income. If Dr. Zhivago moonshines for a private organization and does surgery between 8 and midnite every day and 12 hours Saturday and Sundays he should be allowed to charge a million dollars an hour. But from the public money he should only be paid up to a statutory maximum. Same with the coach - if Nike sponsors the Fighting Illini and pays for the team and for the coach, fine. But not 1 million dollars of public money. Or 650 k for a surgeon. Not when there is a financial crisis going on. -------------------- Schumi drive it like you stole it !
