Step-by-step model with intermediate control
the linear model is also known as the iterative model or "maelstrom".

The model is characterized by the following properties of interaction between stages:

• the model consists of sequentially arranged stages (just like the " waterfall»);

• each stage has feedback from previous stages;

* error correction occurs at each stage, immediately when a problem is detected — this is an intermediate control;

* stages overlap in time due to feedback: the next stage does not start until the previous one is completed; the first time the model goes down, as soon as an error is detected, it returns from the bottom up to the previous stages that caused the error; thus, the stages are actually stretched over time;

• the result appears only at the end of development, as in the waterfall model.

The criterion for the appearance of the result is acceptable product quality, that is, the state of the product when the most critical errors for the client are eliminated, and the client agrees with the presence of errors that are not fundamental to the system's life — these errors are described in the documentation and are actually transferred in this way to the category of system features.
