sweet mamma... biggrin.gif

- FWD cu LSD ( diferential cu patinare limitata); raport de greutati fata/spate 60/40;

- suspensia foarte buna ( mai reusita decat a A3-ului) mai complianta la denivelari dar luat pe portiunile de drum serpuitor este la fel daca nu mai rapid. nici cea mai mica tendinta de a se legana si se simte ca orice Honda usor ( are 1584kg totusi) si agil. tehnic: "double wishbone" pe fata si multi-link pe spate. acceleratie laterala de 0.91g;

- gume R17/235/45 Michelin Pilot MXM4;

- scaune automate cu 8 ajustari pentru sofer si 4 pentru pasager;

noul TL 2007:

http://www.hondanews.com/CatID3011?mid=200...80&mime=asc

QUOTE
For 2007, the Acura TL's exterior has been updated to enhance its emotional and athletic impact. With the introduction of the Type-S, visual cues were incorporated to distinguish it from other TLs. All the updates were done while maintaining the high build quality, durability and resale value that Acura buyers expect.

DESIGN CONCEPT

The TL was designed to embody aggressiveness and power, agility and endurance. Designers began with the stance of the vehicle-how it looks and sits on its suspension. They worked towards a look of poise, with a promise of agility and power. The contrast of muscular tension and angular lines flows through the sheet metal, with its long wheelbase, short front and rear overhangs and wide track setting the tone.

The 2004 TL design team were, in part, influenced by "Bauhaus" styling themes. Founded in 1919, Bauhaus was the first and most famous German design house. Bauhaus set a template for European design with the now-famous maxim, "Form follows function." That classic design logic meshes well with already established Acura design philosophies.

With the updates for 2007, the style could more accurately be called "Bauhaus with attitude." Careful attention was paid to give the Type-S its own distinctive and even more aggressive look. Black chrome trim used around the car is an excellent example of the difference between the TL and the Type-S.

2007 TL / 2007 TL Type-S
Length, in. 189.3 / 189.8
Width, in. 75.4 / 75.4

Height, in. 56.7 / 56.7

Wheelbase, in. 107.9 / 107.9

Track, Front/Rear, in. 62.1/62.0 / 62.1/62.0

RIGIDITY

Although adding stiffness to a vehicle's unit body improves road holding and makes the driver feel more connected to the car, it also can add weight. In the 2007 TL, ample use of high-tensile steel accounts for a strong unit body structure that is also light. A front shock tower brace, a rigid front bulkhead, a roof stiffener that extends to the C-pillar, and a rear speaker shelf box section also contribute to stiffness. High-tensile steel was used for 48 percent of the body. Even though the forming process is similar to that used for standard steel, the molecular composition of high-tensile steel allows it to be stronger after forming. Parts can therefore be made thinner and lighter while maintaining strength.

AERODYNAMICS

Design and engineering objectives for the TL required aerodynamic creativity. The challenge was to allow stylists to craft the TL front end as powerfully and emotionally as they wanted, without impeding the airflow essential for engine operation. Moreover crash safety, high-speed stability, reduced wind noise and high fuel economy were essential.

Achieving the desired exterior styling required that most of the cooling air come from under the front of the car. Several different polypropylene panels enhance underbody aerodynamic performance. These lightweight and durable panels include a curved valance below the front fascia. Air attaches to its smooth radius at highway speeds and is directed into the radiator. The center section of the valance bends out of the way if the TL encounters a curb or other obstruction. For 2007, improved brake cooling strakes were introduced into the front valance as well.

Other aerodynamic elements include a sleek A-pillar shape, front and rear deflectors, an engine undercover and a rear floor cover. These improvements benefit fuel economy, reduce wind noise and improve high-speed stability. Internal testing reveals that the 2007 TL surpasses the Infiniti G35, Lexus IS 350 and Audi S4 in coefficient of drag.

Additionally, the TL Type-S trunk lid spoiler helps produce lift to promote enhanced high speed stability.

WHEEL ARCH GAPS

Minimizing the visual gap between the edges of the tires and the wheel arches was an important design goal. To retain a wide wheel track with these narrow gaps, the TL has a special fender flange design that allows the tires to sweep up and inside without making contact during suspension movement.

MASS REDUCTION

Reducing the TL curb weight was a matter of high priority for Acura. Despite a comprehensive array of technology and the use of insulating materials to promote an even quieter and more luxurious cabin, strict control over component weight has kept the TL to 3623 pounds. The TL Type-S with the 5-speed Sequential SportShift automatic weighs 3674 pounds, with the 6-speed model coming in at only 3559 pounds.

POWER GLASS MOONROOF

The TL's 30.7-inch moonroof lends a tremendous open feeling to the car, and features the convenience of one-touch opening and closing and a standard anti-pinch safety feature.

The overhang of the moonroof panel edge into the opening is a scant 1.6 inches when it is fully opened. The moonroof itself is virtually flush, reducing the chance of wind noise. There is also a special flush-type seal that promotes quietness.

HID (HIGH-INTENSITY DISCHARGE) HEADLIGHTS

The TL headlights feature HID high and low beams, as well as daytime running lights (DRLs). These HID high/low beams are made possible by a shutter device that mechanically controls the light output of the HID unit. When the driver selects high beam, an electric solenoid in the headlight moves a shutter forward, opening up a greater reflector area inside the headlight. When the lights are operated on low beam, this shutter repositions to act as a cut-off to keep the lighted area closer to the vehicle. The TL headlights dramatically increase the illuminated area versus non-HID beams, considerably more effective at long range. For 2007, the fog lamps have been moved from the headlight assembly to integrated into the lower bumper.

LED LIGHTING

Extensive use of light emitting diodes (LEDs) provides a high-tech image for side and rear lighting. LEDs are used for the front side marker lights, Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL), taillights, and rear side marker lights.

These LED arrays provide uniform lighting and a unique, modern look. They also have a quicker turn-on time and a projected service life four times longer than normal automotive bulbs. They are also brighter, use less energy and produce less heat than incandescent bulbs.

For 2007, the rear taillights have been redesigned with clear outer covers and red inner lenses. TL models have the two elements separated with a red chrome extension, while the Type-S features a black chrome bar between the two.

5 MPH BUMPERS

The Acura TL uses a highly efficient Xenoy thermoplastic energy absorber with a high-strength steel reinforcement beam that absorbs 80 percent of low-speed crash energy. This allowed designers to reduce the overhang of the bumper, while also reducing the weight and repair costs. Both the front and rear bumpers meet the federal government's 2.5 mph regulation, even when tested at 5 mph.

NOISE, VIBRATION & HARSHNESS (NVH) CONTROL

An assortment of NVH measures includes advanced aerodynamic design, the first U.S.-market use of automotive acoustic windshield glass with shade band, insulating panels under the hood and inside the trunk and the fenders.

Key NVH areas include:

Acoustically tuned glass windshield

Since its 2004 introduction, the TL's windshield has been made of 4.7 mm thick acoustic glass, which consists of two layers of safety glass, separated by a thin acoustic resin center. Representing the first time that acoustic glass with a shade band had been applied to a luxury vehicle in North America, the windshield reduces road noise on smooth asphalt significantly in higher frequency ranges. To reduce noise intrusion through the side glass, the front and rear movable door glass is 5 mm thick.

Thinsulate

Patented by 3M, Thinsulate™ insulation was developed for thermal applications but it is also ideal for noise reduction. It is crushable and can be used in tight-clearance areas. In the TL it is used behind the door liners, rear seat side garnishes, center console, rear seatback and front and rear pillar garnishes. It is also used under the instrument panel and parcel shelf and inside the front and rear fenders.

Trunk

Engineers treated the trunk as an acoustic package, containing the speaker array and trunk hinges and springs in a rigid box structure. This improves audio bass performance, reduces interior noise levels, enhances the appearance of the trunk interior, and eliminates the chance that belongings will be damaged by a speaker or hinge.

NVH reduction items

Re-designed aluminum-alloy front subframe
Re-designed outside mirrors with full seals
5 mm side glass
Hood insulator
Improved door-handle sealing
Flush-mount moonroof
Aluminum-alloy front subframe

Besides its low mass, the TL aluminum-alloy front subframe reduces "starting boom" (resonance noise). For 2007, it has been re-designed with new transmission mounts and bushings for a more comfortable ride.

Melt Sheet

The careful application of a high-density melt sheet makes a huge reduction in high-frequency sound. Testing results show it reduces the vibration of the TL floor panels from approximately 500Hz and above, decreasing noise inside the vehicle.

Active Noise Cancellation™

To further reduce cabin noise, the '07 TL Type-S uses Active Noise Cancellation. The system uses a pair of cabin-mounted microphones and the car's audio system to cancel out low-frequency noise, greatly reducing cabin "boom." More information about Active Noise Cancellation is available in the Interior section.

POWER WINDOWS

The TL's driver and front passenger windows feature an auto-open and auto-close feature. It also incorporates an anti-pinch safety feature. The glass is 5 mm thick to reduce cabin noise.

EXTERIOR (SIDEVIEW) MIRRORS

A mirror housing needs to be small and aerodynamic to reduce turbulence-without compromising mirror area. To reduce the housing size, engineers devised a way to hold the mirror element from behind instead of at the sides, and carefully controlled the gap between the mirror element and housing to further reduce turbulence. Blue-tinted mirrors also reduce eyestrain in bright conditions. For 2007, the housing has been redesigned to incorporate turn signals.

Engineers also measured the airflow through the channel between the A-pillar and the mirror. By designing this channel in an expanding V-shape, the air actually decelerates (rather than accelerates) as it moves across the glass. This helps keep the air from tumbling across the side glass, reducing high- and mid-frequency noise.

The mirrors have been positioned forward, away from the window glass, to further reduce wind noise, while increasing the driver's side view. A reverse tilt function automatically tilts either the left or right mirror down when the TL transmission is shifted into reverse. This is a driver-selectable function via the mirror adjuster control that may be turned on or off if desired.

DOORS & LATCHES

To resist parking lot dings and dents, the TL door skins are made from special 340H high-tensile steel. This bake-hardened steel has much greater resistance to bending and a higher work-hardening threshold than conventional steel, making the door skins much more resistant to dents and dings. The door skins are 10 to 15 percent stronger with 50 percent better permanent deform resistance than conventional steel.

Door fit is a matter of extraordinary precision on the TL. The gap is just 3.5 mm at the leading edge of the front doors, 4 mm between the doors, and 3.5 mm at the trailing edge of the rear doors.

Acura precisely refined the door closing sound on the TL. A door sash structure, manufactured with a laser-welded blank, increases the rigidity of the door sashes and reduces objectionable high frequency noise as the doors are closed. A door lock structure absorbs sounds caused by the latch, eliminating objectionable noise.

BODY TRIM

The aggressive and sporty styling is subtly enhanced on the TL, and aggressively enhanced on the Type-S. Satin chrome trim graces the new, larger grille on the TL, while black chrome trim is found on the Type-S. The B-pillar and roof seam trim are high gloss black, while redesigned aluminum step garnishes with "TL" or "Type-S" laser-etched on them provide a finished appearance.

EXHAUST FINISHERS

The TLs exhaust has bright trapezoidal finisher tips integrated into the rear styling. The tips are inset far enough to allow adequate bumper stroke in the event of a low-speed collision, but are positioned far enough back to allow exhaust gases to pass beyond the bumper. Special multi-axis rubber mounts control the exhaust tip placement, allowing a gap of only 0.8 inch between the finisher and fascia. A high heat-resistance polypropylene garnish is clipped to the bumper to protect it from heat.

On the Type-S, the trapezoidal finishers are replaced with two round chrome finishers on each side, emphasizing the sporty role the Type-S plays.

EXTERIOR PAINT

The 2007 TL is available in seven pearl and two metallic exterior colors. Four new colors debut for 2007, with one (Kinetic Blue Pearl) exclusive to the Type-S. The painting process begins when the steel body receives a phosphate bath to completely clean it of oils and film after welding is complete. This is followed by an electrodeposition (ED) primer bath, where the unit body is electrically charged to attract the primer. After baking, the color coat is applied, followed by a protective clear coat.

Avand in vedere ca e cam singurul topic cu Acura ... postez si eu aici. Am avut azi placerea sa ma plimb cu o asemenea masina. WOW.

cateva date tehnice despre TL 2007

QUOTE
OVERVIEW

The TL's front-wheel drive chassis provides significant benefits in a 5-passenger sedan. The overall package is lighter than if it were rear drive, there is more passenger room and the drivetrain is more compact. There are also important benefits in fuel efficiency.

CHASSIS CONCEPT

With the introduction of the TL Type-S, the TL chassis now finds itself with multiple challengers. Also, whereas previously the TL's target was the BMW 530i Sport, a magazine comparison favorite, the 2007 TL lineup gives buyers the choice between two distinct models.

The TL is targeted toward buyers interested in a high-tech luxury sedan with excellent handling and chassis dynamics, but who also value a comfortable ride more than razor's-edge handling. The Type-S is aimed at buyers who want an increase in handling, braking and dynamic capability, but without making major sacrifices in ride comfort or interior noise.

Both share a rigid platform with a performance-tuned suspension and large tires. The large tire contact patches enhance braking and handling with all-season tires. The high-performance "summer" tires available on the Type-S boost acceleration, handling and braking capability even higher on both dry and wet surfaces.

As a result both the TL and Type-S have excellent dynamic properties. Both feel crisp and taut, corner flat and offer a high level of grip-even with four passengers aboard. With two separate TL models for 2007, chassis engineers were able to uniquely tune the suspensions for the different models' roles.

Noteworthy TL chassis enhancements include:

HYDROFORMED ALUMINUM-ALLOY SUBFRAME

The TL uses an all aluminum-alloy front subframe that carries the engine, transmission and lower suspension links.
The U-shaped subframe cradle is hydroformed. In this process, a single aluminum-alloy tube is inserted into an immensely strong die, which is locked closed before the tube is pressurized with water. The resulting component is lighter and stronger than a multi-piece component would be. The hydroformed cradle is then attached to aluminum-alloy corner brackets to form the complete subframe.
For 2007, the subframe has been redesigned to accommodate the new 5-speed automatic transmission and, in the Type-S, the new 3.5-liter V-6 engine. The lower transmission mount has been changed from two pieces to one piece, and the upper transmission mount has been redesigned as well. In addition, the bushings between the rear subframe and the chassis on the TL have been revised.

ENGINE MOUNTS

The TL and TL Type-S are equipped with a pair of special fluid-filled Electronic Control Mounts. Connected to the hydroformed aluminum-alloy subframe, they reduce vibration when the engine is idling.
The TL engine also has a side mount that helps control lateral movement. And on the Type-S with 6-speed manual transmission, a special damper further reduces engine-rocking motion when the driver lets the clutch out or shifts.

FRONT SUSPENSION

The TL front suspension is a double-wishbone system with a rigid stamped steel upper arm and a steel lower arm. The system is functionally related to the systems used on Formula One and Indy Cars, and permits the best combination of road holding, ride quality and packaging for the TL. The system uses coil-over shock absorbers that, unlike strut suspensions, are not stressed suspension members. This reduces suspension friction and improves responsiveness to bumps. Suspension camber gain is maximized through the use of a short upper arm, while steering feel is enhanced through a high placement of the lower arm.

The upper suspension arm is extremely rigid, which makes it less likely to transmit vibrations from road surface irregularities into the cabin as road noise. A special compliance bushing on the lower arm better absorbs bumps and improves ride quality. A steel bar connects the shock towers. Hollow, high-strength and lightweight, it enhances chassis solidity, steering precision and feel.

While the major geometry is shared between the TL and TL Type-S, the tuning of these components results in cars with significantly different steering and ride feel.

The TL's suspension has been retuned with an emphasis on ride comfort while maintaining excellent handling. Thus, the hollow front anti-roll bar has increased in size from 25.4 mm to 27.2 mm. Also, the front spring rate has been reduced by 7 percent compared to the 2006 model. The front compliance bushing and dampers have been retuned for improved ride comfort, resulting in improved ride comfort without increased roll and only a slight decrease in instrumented handling tests.

The Type-S suspension has been retuned for significant performance gains. The hollow front anti-roll bar is replaced with a 27 mm solid bar. Although a smaller diameter than the previous TL, the bar is significantly stiffer than the hollow 27.2 mm bar it replaces. Additionally, the front damping rate has increased significantly. The dampers on the Type-S have been tuned specifically for this vehicle's goal of refined handling. The result is increased road holding and enhanced stability with a reduced roll angle, with a minimal loss in ride comfort. Also, the damper mounts are 400 percent stiffer, improving steering response and handling, but without compromising road noise isolation.

REAR SUSPENSION

The TL rear suspension is a 5-link independent system with struts and coil springs. It mounts to a steel subframe to improve road isolation and provide a quiet interior. The rear suspension geometry adds "toe-in" when the suspension is compressed, improving handling stability over bumps and during hard cornering and braking.

A stabilizer bar further improves handling precision by limiting body roll, while a special "pillow joint" for the lateral links improves camber rigidity. Rubber shims on the leading and trailing arm bushings improve ride comfort.

As on the front suspension, the rear suspension has been specially retuned on both the TL and TL Type-S. The TL has unique shock valving for improved ride comfort. The rear anti-roll bar has been changed from a solid 17 mm bar on the 2006 model to a hollow 18.3 mm bar. This reduces weight without sacrificing roll stiffness.

Type-S suspension settings are tuned for performance. Although the automatic and manual transmission Type-S models have the same suspension settings, the rear spring rate has been increased 33 percent on vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, 14 percent on vehicles mated with automatic transmissions. The solid rear anti-roll bar has increased in size from 17 mm on the 2006 model to 20 mm for 2007 on cars with an automatic transmission. This results in much greater roll stiffness in the rear, allowing for better balance and control.

STEERING

The TL uses torque-sensing, variable power-assisted rack and pinion steering. The engine-driven variable-output pump provides the kind of steering feel that driving enthusiasts like: modest steering effort at low speeds and precise feel at higher speeds.

For 2007, the TL Type-S receives revised power steering pumps and steering gearboxes to improve steering effort build and feeling while maintaining a confident and stable feel. To this end, the power steering pump has been retuned for decreased flow at 3250 rpm for increased effort build up. Additionally, the steering gearbox tuning increased effort by 15 percent at high speeds for better on-center feel. The rack has also been retuned for better damping feel. To keep up with the demands of spirited driving, the TL Type-S also features a new aluminum power steering fluid cooler.

Hydraulic steering dampers built into the system further improve stability during cornering and at high speeds. A one-way kickback valve decreases kickback to the steering wheel that can be caused by road irregularities. The hydraulic valve closes when it senses road irregularities, impeding disturbances to the steering wheel.
Increasing the stiffness of the steering gearbox mounting and the rear sub frame also maximizes steering linearity.

BRAKES

Both the TL and TL Type-S feature 4-wheel disc brakes with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and 4-channel Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control System (TCS) as standard equipment.

On the TL, the front brakes are ventilated 300 mm cast-iron discs with single-piston calipers. For 2007, fade resistance has been improved with a larger brake strake in the front fascia, which directs more air to the brakes. This reduces brake temperature in high-demand braking, and helps improve the TL's brake fade resistance. The rear brakes are 282 mm solid discs, gripped by single piston calipers.

Both manual and automatic transmission TL Type-S models receive 310 mm Brembo brake rotors and aluminum-alloy front brake calipers that previously were only available on manual transmision-equipped cars. The calipers have four pistons each and more aggressive pad material to offer improved brake feel and reduced fade in hard, repeated brake applications. They are also 30 percent lighter than the standard calipers, reducing unsprung weight by 4.3 pounds per wheel, which in turn improves suspension response for better ride and handling. The calipers feature an attractive black painted finish with the Acura name. Rear brakes are the same 282 mm solid discs as the TL, but the calipers are given a black finish to match the front brake calipers.

All models use a single 10-inch vacuum booster is used to reduce weight, increase stiffness and deliver more direct braking feel.

Inside, the parking brake handle has been restyled with a new leather cover.

Electronic Brake Force Distribution

The TL features Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), which continuously and automatically adjusts the pressure distribution between the front and rear brakes depending on how the vehicle is dynamically loaded.

Brake Assist comes standard on the TL. Its purpose is to help the driver apply full braking pressure in a "panic stop" situation. To do so, a microprocessor continually analyzes and "learns" the driver's normal braking habits.
In an emergency braking situation when the brakes are suddenly applied and partially released by the driver to avoid wheel lockup, brake assist helps the driver apply full braking force via the anti-lock actuator. A pressure sensor detects an increase in brake fluid pressure and activates the anti-lock braking system. Braking pressure is maintained momentarily after the driver's initial braking action unless the driver completely releases the brake pedal.

Standard on the TL is a three-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which works in conjunction with the Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) system. Utilizing speed sensors located at each wheel, the system modulates braking power to the front wheels independently and to the rear wheels in tandem-enhancing driver control during maximum-effort stops. For 2007, a new ABS modulator improves response time and reduces noise when operating.

VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST™ (VSA®)

The TL is equipped with 4-channel Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) that helps the driver retain control of the car in the event the vehicle reaches its dynamic traction limits. For example, this may occur through aggressive cornering, encountering ice or dirt on the road, or entering a decreasing-radius corner too fast.

In the event of understeer, the system can apply the inside front and rear brakes to increase yaw, slowing the vehicle and enabling it to complete the turn. Engine torque may also be reduced by coordination of the Drive-by-Wire Throttle System™ and powertrain control module.
The 4-channel system controls all four brakes independently. In the event of oversteer (where the rear tires lose grip), the system can apply the outside front and rear brakes to decrease yaw, slowing the vehicle and enabling it to stay on its intended path.
An indicator light on the instrument panel alerts the driver whenever the VSA system is actively enhancing the vehicle's stability.
The traction control component of VSA uses sensors that monitor each of the wheels and a computer-controlled modulation of engine power and front brakes to help prevent wheel spin when starting out or accelerating. If the sensors detect wheel spin, traction control reduces engine power and applies brake force to the affected wheels. This helps the TL maintain traction during acceleration and helps the driver retain steering control, even when accelerating on slippery surfaces.
A cockpit switch is provided to disable the vehicle stability and traction control aspects of the system while leaving the ABS system fully functional.

WHEELS

The Acura TL has lightweight 17 x 8-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with distinctive designs for the TL and TL Type-S. The TL receives a split-five spoke wheel finished in Blade Sliver, while the Type-S wheels are a 10-spoke design finished in Dark Euro Silver. Both wheels are lightweight designs, which contribute to quicker suspension movement and better ride quality by contributing to lowering unsprung weight. Optional 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels are available as accessory in three different finishes.

TIRES

Bridgestone 17-inch all-season high-performance tires were specifically developed for the TL. The standard tire is P235/45R17 M+S (all-season), and is available on TLs without the navigation system. TLs with navigation receive Michelin all-season high-performance tires. All Type-S models are equipped with Michelin tires, and a high-performance 235/45R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-030 "summer" tire is available for the Type-S as well. The 2007 TL is also equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system.
The 17-inch tires significantly contribute to the TL design objectives including its aggressive, athletic appearance. They also measurably improve handling and braking.
The high-performance tires available on the Type-S further enhance dry handling, wet handling and braking, at the cost of performance in snow and accelerated wear. In warm weather, these tires consistently outperform all-season tires in slalom speed, maximum cornering g force, and braking distance.
The TL Type-S has a T145/70R17 temporary spare tire. A T135/80R16 temporary spare is used on the TL. The advantages of a temporary spare include maximum trunk space as well as reduced vehicle weight for better handling and fuel economy.
